The Day I Never Expected

There is nothing like a day in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. From the awe-inspring peaks, to the quiet and expansive landscapes, to the serene snow melt reseviors tucked in among the peaks, there is something for every wandering soul, in search of an experience that puts things in perspective.

This is why me and a close friend hopped in the '04 Subaru wagon and headed east.

This is a story that you've heard from me many times before. Open mountain roads, windows down, music up (60s and 70s rock, in case you were wondering), and nothing but poor college student syndrome limiting us. This wasnt the pristine day that I normal seek out though. On this day, the itch to get out of town overrode the less than ideal forecast and with a storm on the horizon.

And let me tell you something, there is NOTHING like an eastern Sierra storm.

Let me give you a little background on this trip though before we jump right into it. This was a last second trip, a product of this same trip, taken only a week prior that went quite wrong for me. I take many of these trips for both the experience of traveling as well as growing my photography portfolio. Unfortuantely when I took this trip a week prior, little did I know that the settings on my camera were less than optimal for any sort of quality photos. Essentially an entire day worth of photos went down the drain. A day mind you, that I thought would have produced some of the best photos I had taken to date, considering that locations and the conditions (Essential when taking landscape photography).

Etc...
